Even here in the US, call center jobs are a drag. I worked in one for two years (one of the nation's biggest auto and property insurance companies) and it drained me. Then, when I was costing too much in medical treatment for them, they trumped up a charge to fire me with. Granted, they wound up paying unemployment to me, and got seriously fined by the state, but that didn't help me.
In the end, I am glad I don't work there any more, and will avoid call center jobs like the plague now.
